Bibenda, recognized by the Associazione Sommeilier Italiana, puts on its Annual Wine Oscars.
On Monday, May 28th there was a spectacular celebration in Rome. The L’Oscar del Vino 2012, or 2012 Wine Oscars, hosted annually by Bibenda had one of the largest attendances with over 200 guests. The excitement was contagious as winemakers, winery owners, and the press gathered in tuxedos and evening gowns to see this year’s winners would be award recipents.
This year’s event was, by far, one of the most extravagant. Guest were treated to a delectable gala dinner by Chef Gianfranco Vissani. The decor was designed for a festive mood with bright colors and beautiful flowers. This lovely backdrop set the mood as the commencement began.
Among those attending was Gianni Menotti, one of the most famous white wine enologist. As put by Bibenda, for thirty years Gianni has been dedicated torespecting the identity and personality of the grapes from Italy. His skills come as part of a career that is unparalleled in excellence.
It was no surprise with a reputation as such when Gianni won the award for Best Wine Maker. Gianni, who could not be happier about receiving this most prestigious award, was very humble in saying, “This is the crown to all of the years of hard work and sacrifices that have made up my professional career.”
Renato Spanu, sang Gianni’s praises saying that “it is a great honor to have Gianni on board” and “He is truly fantastic and 100% on top of things, even more so than I am!”
Congratulations to Mr. Menotti on his well deserved new title.
