No rules in nature, every season brings unpredictable developments. Instinct guides my choices, and experience reveals the infinite possibilities of each terroir.
1981 I earned a Degree in Agriculture from the University of Padua, earning my license to practice as an agronomist. I specialized in oenology and also earned the title of enologist.
1988 I began working as an oenologist-director at a large winery in the Collio area, where I achieved my first significant results, which would lay the foundation for a style I strongly desired, combining elegance and freshness with great complexity in my wines.
2002 One of my wines, “Gräfin De La Tour,” became the best white wine in Italy according to the prestigious Gambero Rosso Slowfood guide. It is a Chardonnay, a grape variety well-known throughout the world and widely cultivated in Italy. A challenge I won against many other producers who were already achieving excellent results.
2006 Again according to the Gambero Rosso Slowfood guide, I was awarded the title of Winologist of the Year. A highly coveted title, the crowning achievement of any professional career, an accolade that also extended to the wines I had produced over the years.
2012 In January, I was recognized by the National Association of “Cities of Wine” as Ambassador Emeritus for my passionate work on behalf of Friulian wines.
2012 On May 28, 2012, in Rome, at the “Cavalieri Hilton” Hotel, home of Bibenda, I received the “Wine Oscar” in the “Best Oenologist” category. The Medal of Representation from the President of the Republic is an international award that indelibly and definitively seals my interpretation of wine. This important recognition crowns my professional successes, along with all the other awards I’ve received since embarking on a career as a wine consultant.
2020 The 2020 Friulano “Nexus” from Valchiarò was named the best white wine in Italy by the Winesurf guide. The 2017 Cratis (Friulian Verduzzo) was named Italy’s best sweet wine based on the combined scores of the most important Italian guides in 2021.
2023 Roberto Scubla’s 2020 Pomedes was awarded a Platinum medal, DECANTER’s highest recognition (only 89 wines worldwide).
2025 Today, I continue my journey as a winemaker with the same passion as always. After years of awards and collaborations, my commitment remains to promoting the region through wines that combine identity, elegance, and innovation.
